Pepsi - Star Wars Promotion
Last summer's release of "Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace" created a popular frenzy unparalleled in recent years, and VinCenzo certainly didn't sit back and idly watch it pass by. Rather, we helped create a promotional tin for Pepsi that showcased the film's star, young Anakin Skywalker. From the very start, the project was a challenge. Because the tins were marketed in Toys 'R Us stores nationwide, they had to be designed to compete with the kind of over-the-top packaging generally found in toy stores. When asked to explain how VinCenzo addressed this problem, Keith Armato, VinCenzo's CEO, explained, "We decided to use special transparent inks in the printing process. These inks color the tin, but the metal still maintains its reflective look, and the result is a really striking iridescent sheen."
But eye-popping graphics wouldn't help the customer if the tins were still on the production line during their scheduled release date. "Because of the nature of the Star Wars promotion, we were asked to produce a huge number of tins in a very short period of time, and because the promotion was tied into a film release, they had to be ready all at once. Thankfully, we've developed the manufacturing and shipping resources necessary to carry out such a large job."

All in all, the tin speaks for itself, but Keith had a few words to say as well. "It's a perfect example of how by utilizing a good design and some special materials like the transparent inks, we can take a very basic round tin and turn it into something special. I'm glad that we could help Pepsi in promoting such a huge pop culture event... um... no pun intended."
