This Fall saw the execution of a mission that brought VinCenzo to the very heart of European decadence and luxury, Monte Carlo. There couldn't be a more appropriate location for LuxePack, one of the world's premiere packaging expos, and VinCenzo was there to catch the latest packaging trends... and, appropriate to the surroundings, to complete a James Bond style reconaissance operation along the way.
This trip was largely a scouting mission in preparation for LuxePack 2002, where VinCenzo is preparing to exhibit next Fall. "The use of luxury packaging seems to be on the rise," explains Joseph Marlovits, VinCenzo's Vice President of Sales and Marketing, "and tin is more relevant than ever. Next year will be a great opportunity for us to further establish ourselves in the European market, and reinforce the fact that we're the primary luxury tin packaging manufacturer in the U.S. We're anxious to get back to Monaco."
VinCenzo President Keith Armato peruses a packaging display at the show. We're assured it isn't radioactive.
With over 300 exhibitors from over 20 countries, LuxePack is no slouch when it comes to size, but where it truly stands out is in the high quality of all of the products being shown. "You'll see carved glass bottles, fine hardwood boxes, all kinds of beautiful packages," says Keith Armato, VinCenzo's president. "Tin has always been a great material for luxury packaging, and the uniqueness and quality of our tins are really tailor-made for the European luxury packaging market. LuxePack is where we belong."
Here, a set of tins VinCenzo recently produced for an American company, Benefit Cosmetics. The iridescent sheen, matte texture and beveled edges make for a uniquely impressive look and feel.
Sadly, while our show research has proven that we possess the necessary reconaissance skills, our jaunts through the streets and casinos of Monte Carlo have shown us that we probably lack the suave style and stunning looks that are the hallmarks of any super agent worth his salt. In fact, while away from the show, rather than sitting at the baccarat table gambling away the net worth of small nations to creepy scarred men with Persian cats, we were relaxing at the aquarium and discovering the local royal fish. No microfilm full of defense secrets, to be sure, but we like to think it was a pretty decent discovery nonetheless.
Granted, she's remarkably popular around these parts, but nevertheless we thought the local name for this fish might have been stretching the resemblance juuuuust a bit
